"David and Jon thanks for all your help at Severnliegh which has gone smoothly. The new occupiers were blown away with the design, quality and size of the flats and landscaping. Good to know we were doing the right thing from an independent perspective as you can get a little close to a project sometimes."

"I was lucky to find Charlie and Apex via the recommendation of structural engineer Byron Hapgood. Taking on a sizeable project on my own, and needing an architectural practice with the vision of transforming the rear of an early Victorian house with an oak and steel/glass garden room, could have been daunting. The plans Charlie drew up were innovative, stylish, and completely in tune with my ideas of a Scandinavian style extension. The property is on a slope of the Malvern Hills and this potential disadvantage was transformed into an asset. Charlie was intuitive with the needs of this project, and always answered emails or phone calls in a timely manner, which was greatly appreciated. I would have no hesitation in recommending Charlie and Apex."
"When we selected you to carry out this work it was based not only on your initial ideas but also my gut feeling you would come up with something we could build without the use of sky hooks…and personally I think you have achieved both which is no mean feat considering it is a somewhat ad-hoc layout today and you have managed not to just to sit a box on the back but give us something a little different to the ones either side, sort the internal space and flow and retain the character of the property (where appropriate).
Of course you are welcome to pop in any time and have a nose around, and you know me by know – tell me if we are making a pigs ear of it!
I am sure I will be calling on you several times during the build for advice / help, but hopefully not too often.
So in the meantime all the best and thanks again."
"Our house is an original 1700s stone cottage of which there are many in the St Briavels area. Extensions have been added at different stages of its life. The result is something of a hotch-potch to be honest. So commissioning a new extension to add a study for me – that would be spacious and quiet plus an attractive bedroom with small en-suite for the many friends and family who come to visit us required thought as to how it could ‘sit’ with the rest of the cottage. We are delighted with the result which not only provides us with the extra space we asked for, but has a sense of lightness and air about it. At the same time the extension ‘sits’ well in proportion with the rest of the house, echoing roof lines and windows. It rationalises the rest of the house - which used to be something of a railway carriage, room after room - but now is more balanced.
David Hurcombe took us through the process from conception to completion with a down-to-earth assurance that we appreciated, clear guidance born of solid experience and good advice when we required it."

Parking outside our property was very limited so we thought we would seek planning approval for a parking space by giving up some of the front garden.
We were recommended by a friend to contact Apex Architecture, he had used the company himself and found them extremely helpful.
We contacted the local office at Viney Hill and were put in touch with Mr. Jon White. Jon came straight out to visit us and we talked over what we hoped for. From that moment on we had no more worries. Jon took charge of everything, suggesting what was possible and what would be best for us. He did a wonderful design, took charge of all the planning requirements and kept us constantly up to date with how things were progressing. Thanks to his knowledge and hard work our application was approved by the Council. Work is now underway and will soon be completed therefore putting our parking worries in the past.
We would have no hesitation in recommending Apex and if you are lucky enough to have Mr. Jon White you will find him extremely helpful, very knowledgeable and a true gentleman.

"When Nicky and I bought a dilapidated 17th century sandstone barn in a beautiful corner of the Wye Valley, we knew it had the potential to be something very special. This was going to be more than a project; it was the realisation of a lifetime's dream. Choosing an architect and builder who could share our vision and bring it to life was essential. We live 3 hours away in Kent so would have limited time on site, and needed people we could trust. By chance Nicky and I came across the Apex website separately on the same day, and we both liked the sound of it - a small practise in the area, with experience and knowledge that seemed to fit the bill. After a call and on site meeting we were sure they would be right for the job. By similar gut instinct we chose a local builder, with whom Apex hadn’t worked before but who came as a recommendation. So Jon at Apex became our Architectural Technologist and Contract Administrator, and Darrel was our builder.
Here we are two years later, and the barn is ready. We could not be more delighted at the result and
have to pinch ourselves. What’s more, it has been a pain-free journey - in fact it has been a complete pleasure. A large part of that success is down to Jon. His involvement has been exactly what we needed. He drew up the plans, obtained the building regs, detailed Darrel's contract and valuation schedule, minuted the monthly meetings, challenged the invoices, met us on weekends for flexibility, and offered advice at any time…everything we needed to give us peace of mind when we were so far away. He was firm but fair with Darrel, and at no time did relations between the three parties become strained.
In short, for us, the partnership between Jon and Darrel was ideal. Over the 2 years we worked together we got to know the Apex team well, and Jon in particular. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him personally for his professionalism and expertise, and hope that we will stay friends in the years to come down at our barn.”

You have probably seen that the second planning approval is through - so cause for celebration!
I'd like to thank you for your help and hard work over these last months as it has been really appreciated. You have been informative at every step of the process and have maintained a communicative, balanced and professional link with the planners too which I am sure has really made a difference.
When we sell the plot we will be sure to recommend that the new purchasers go to Apex for the detailed plans.
"I engaged the services of Apex Architecture to assist in the design of a loft conversion and small extension to my house. I found Gareth, Jon & David to be methodical in their approach, offer good advice that I clearly understood and delivered on the brief they were engaged to do. I would recommend Apex Architecture to others. Thank you for your support."
I must just thank you so much for all your professional help and advice with regard to my proposed new extension. Throughout the whole planning process, from designing and drawing up the plans to obtaining planning permission and building regs., you were there to oversee all the necessary surveys etc. I would not have been able to manage this myself without the continuing support from you and Apex Architecture.
I would have no hesitation in recommending your company to anybody seeking architectural expertise.
With all best wishes
"Having found ourselves with the somewhat daunting task of redesigning, extending and renovating an old property into a home for our new family, we decided to enlist the services of Apex. It was immediately obvious that they were a very approachable and friendly group of professionals. With Charlie Vine at the helm, he helped turn what could have been quite a stressful project into one where we both really looked forward to site meetings. Charlie and the team guided us through from concept to completion, helping ease things through planning, putting up with endless questions on the phone and sourcing fantastic builders. Having now moved in to a home that is all we could have wished for, we have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending Charlie and all at Apex."

Dear Gareth and David,
We are pleased to say that our building work starts next Monday, and I just wanted to say thank-you for your efforts. My brother still thinks we were wasting our money using an architect, but Louise and I are very happy with what you have done for us; actually we think your service was “bloody brilliant” We would recommend you to other people – in fact I already have given you a mention to one of our clients.

"Working with David was a delight, we have an excellent personal relationship which made it better. Everything was well presented and very professional. We enjoyed the designing and getting it right. Our house started as a extension and then extended into restructuring the whole building. David has an expert eye and understood what we wanted and what the building needed. With out David's advise we would have potentially spent a lot more money. We had a danger of just doing the basic and not understanding structural issues. David came up with excellent solutions. The house is beautiful and practical, we have a perfect living space for a family of 6. What I love most about the house is the master bedroom, it has a wonderful view down the estuary. I would and have recommended Apex to anyone that needs an Architect."

Knockalls Lodge, Staunton - Extensions, alterations, garage and tennis court
"I worked with Apex Architecture on a project which involved extending a stone cottage, refurbishing stone
outbuildings, and constructing a detached garage and tennis court. My family had some clear and demanding
objectives in enhancing our property, and Apex were invaluable in creating a design which was sympathetic to
the existing buildings and garden, and taking this successfully through the planning process which was
particularly sensitive as we are in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Apex also helped identify and select a suitable builder, and managed the contract with him through to
completion. Apex created a very detailed specification for the building work, and this avoided any major
problems with the builder. Having them on board helped resolve the minor problems that inevitably cropped
Throughout the process the staff at Apex remained very professional, attentive and responsive. And did we
meet those objectives? We certainly did, and the family are very happy with the outcome. Well done Apex!"

"After a friendly and helpful exploratory meeting I engaged Apex as the architects for the above project.
My initial proposals were diligently developed into a workable scheme design. Any queries/comments were
dealt with speedily and sympathetically with any requests for meetings to discuss issues readily accommodated.
Planning and Building Regulatory approvals were completed efficiently as was the preparation/issue of the
enquiry specification. I found the explanations given to me of the processes involved particularly helpful.
Apex's knowledge of local building contractors gave me confidence in selection of the successful tenderer.
The administrative and technical support provided during the contract was totally satisfactory. Any problems
were quickly resolved, aided by the professional knowledge of the architects and the good relationship
established with the builder.
I am very pleased with the completed work which fully meets my original requirements. The benefit of the
extra light from the dormer windows exceeds my expectations.
In summary, I was totally satisfied with the support provided by Apex Architecture from the conception through
to the completion of the above project, and on this basis I have no hesitation in recommending their services."
