Apex investing in the futureApex are proud to announce that we have embraced a technological leap forward and invested in new software called “Revit”.
Graitech Ltd provided an instructor and our technical team underwent three days of intensive training at our Practice in Viney Hall, Gloucestershire; feedback from all was very positive. The Team now hope to utilise this software to enhance their provision of superb designs; it will allow them to resolve design queries more easily and to make key decisions relating to design and costs earlier in future projects.
Jon White commented:
“The software is very powerful and will assist us in creating and presenting three dimensional images to a very high standard”.
Gareth Evans stated:
“It’s a different drawing process and I can see great benefits for both the Client and us as Designers”.
What does this mean to our Clients?
“Revit” will allow the Practice to design in a 3D modelled environment from the outset. This will allow us to show our proposals in a 3D model to our clients, Local Authorities and various consultants, both on screen and on our printed drawings. This will help to promote a better understanding of how the project will look, how various spaces will relate to one another, to the building as a whole, and even has the potential to show the building in relationship to its surroundings. Thus providing a very valuable visualisation tool.
Initially we will run Revit alongside our existing drawing package, AutoCAD and, over time, we hope Revit will become our main design suite for all our clients.
We are often asked if we can produce additional three dimensional drawings to complement our various floor plans, elevations, sections and site plans. Once our training is complete we will be able to offer enhanced drawings and visualisations as part of our standard service.
Now for those interested in the technical detail: this software has the ability to assist with the production of schedules and will produce compelling enhanced visualisations, which can be utilised for both Planning Applications and detailed Building Regulations drawings. It will also allow a more efficient collaboration between us and other consultants using the same software. The model can be hosted in the “Cloud” and developed by various parties, i.e. the Structural Engineer could have direct access to the model to: complete their assessments, and check key dimensions for special requirements.
We are all very excited by the thought that in the future we will be able to provide enhanced images of our proposals with materials and finishes, all shown more realistically than in a traditional two dimensional architectural image.
Finally, it is great that we have been able to make this investment. It reflects the years of hard work and dedication of all our staff and ensures Apex Architecture continues to deliver a first class design service from conception to completion.
